The training by Joseph Britton was not only concrete and practical,
but it also showed me how to positively influence the atmosphere around
me. Every time I walked onto the stage, I felt the power, energy and
confidence of ‘Yes, I am a true professional!’ Through Joseph
Britton’s guidance I was able to present my engineering research
at international conferences along with successfully debating in world-class
competitions. My life has been enriched by his training of how to communicate
in an attractive, focused, laser-like manner.
Chihiro Nakagawa, Ph.D. candidate in Engineering at Tokyo University,
ranked as the top debater in Asia.
All of us have been blessed with special qualities and inner gifts
that often are undeveloped, we’re unaware of, or are ineffectively
directed. This is why Joseph Britton’s book is so important. “Attractive
Presentations” helps us increase our power of communication and,
in turn, our ability to project to others the image that best reflects
the charm of our true self.
I thank Joseph Britton for having taught all of our executive staff those
valuable communication skills as they have greatly empowered our private
and professional lives.
Montse Mari, President of the CENTRE CATALÀ DE KANSAI - promoting
intercultural exchange and business between Japan and the government
of Catalunya, Spain.
"Captivating, effective presentations can appear more of an art
than a science to the novice and even the seasoned presenter. Quite the
opposite is true. Joseph Britton thoroughly demystifies the science of
creating and delivering superior presentations with confidence. Attractive
Presentations systematically provides a thorough and systematic step
by step blueprint for successfully conquering each of the elements of
any presentation. This is a must have guidebook for any presenter or
corporate library. I wish I had it years ago."

industry."

to have been trained at his level of international speech communication
skills and protocol."

Attractive Presentations
The simplicity of the title “Attractive Presentations” may
disguise the true depth involved in how one may present to others in
a powerful and moving way. In that regard, the memory of such speakers
and leaders as Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. come to mind,
reminding us, as does author Joseph Britton, that you, the speaker, are
the message.
Who you are, and not just what you do, is the message, and we may recall
that the father of modern media criticism, Marshall McLuhan, coined the
phrase “the medium is the message.” Content is not unimportant,
but as Britton makes clear, people don’t so much remember what
is said, but they will remember—or not—something about the
speaker.
Among the great and detailed variety of suggestions for making an attractive
presentation, the author is continually dropping us little gifts of insight.
Talk about “personal style,” “authentic presence,”
“charisma,” “core values,” “elegance and
brilliance in your life” speak clearly to personal qualities that
go beyond what we could consider the average person to be. The discerning
reader may become aware that Britton in a subtle way is talking about
human greatness.
What it means to be a great human being is not a matter of comparing
ourselves to history’s notables. Rather, it has everything to do
with finding our own greatness and depth. What is it that calls to us
and which we are passionate about? What in the world disturbs and moves
us to take action in a way that makes us a bigger person? What are the
ideals and values on which we are prepared to take a stand, come what
may?
In his own way, I think Joseph Britton embodies a depth and passion
that shows in the stand he has taken in life. When Joseph and I first
met in the late 1980s, I was immediately drawn to his elegance
and personal integrity. He is among the few friends I have who are truly
present to their life, through trials and triumphs.
When we speak like
the author does about what we care about deeply, our light and spirit
shines through. Ultimately, what is attractive is not just the person
but something beyond them which they embody in their being.
This elegance
and integrity clearly shows through in Attractive Presentations, which
I trust will help take many readers along the path to their own greatness.
